John Permenter brought this to me more as a curiosity than with great confidence it would ever play.  It is a Hawaiian guitar built in the 1930’s in Michigan by an independent builder.  There were 12 cracks on the top and back, probably the results of flat sawn woods, lack of humidity control, and only two braces in the whole guitar.  John hoped it could be made playable – and he got his wish.  Some day you may hear it on one of his CDs.
